First Temple — built by Solomon, destroyed by Babylon in 586 BCE. Second Temple — rebuilt, expanded by Herod, destroyed by Rome in 70 CE. Third Temple — coming soon. Permit approved.
Every Jew who has ever recited the Amidah three times a day has prayed for this. Every brick of the Western Wall is a placeholder. Every Tisha B'Av since 70 CE has been a 24-hour reminder that something is missing — and that the blueprint for what's next was never lost, just postponed.
